Nydia

Starring silver screen legend Greta Garbo, the Swedish actress renowned for her intense, emotive performances , who was often cast in roles that explored themes of love, desire and sacrifice.

The title ‘Nydia’ is taken from the Latin word nidus meaning nest or safe place, refuge. This piece explores the dichotomy of refuge and freedom and of the human spirit’s yearning for connection with nature. 

The nests symbolise a place of solace, echoing the nurturing embrace of nature itself. Yet beyond mere shelter, they embody a deeper narrative of liberation and communion with the natural world. In essence Nydia is a symbol of the human longing for belonging and harmony with the environment. We are invited to contemplate the intricate interplay between humanity and nature and the profound sense of freedom found within its embrace.
