'Chasing The Sun' Group Show at Enter Gallery

AMBUSHED - CG

This was Maria’s first gallery group show of 2021: ‘Chasing The Sun’ at Enter Gallery on Bond Street in Brighton. For the show Rivans wanted to develop her Film Stills series so she made 2 x new prints called ‘Ambushed’ for this collection. They were first exclusive to Enter Gallery and then released onto her website.

In this age of image, saturated with selfies and YouTube celebrity, these prints offer a refreshing tonic: maybe there’s more to life than meets the ego. As our silver-screen star gets overgrown with leaves and garlands, there’s an eco message sprouting here, too: maybe, just maybe, it's mother nature who will have the last word. Finished with a strip of golden glitter, Rivans embeds a glimmer of optimism above the sci-fi surreality; because somewhere beyond the clouds, the sun is still shining. Harking back to classic collage aesthetics – ‘Ambushed’ nails that vintage cinema feel. This is technicolor for the twenty-first century.

AMBUSHED - CG (1st image) and AMBUSHED - JC (2nd image) are both 28 x 36cm, an edition of 30 and printed on Somerset with hand embellished gold glitter. Price £75 each.
